STAR search and rescue team can assist at any water related incident in a variety of ways.

 

we can provide:-

• bank based safety cover
• evacuation support
• flood and swift water technician advanced and first responder teams
• in and near water land based search teams
• underwater search camera and aquascope

as part of our health and safety for responding to water incidents team members will have the following equipment:-

• AP 400 WATER RESCUE HELMET
• 20 METER THROW LINE
• PALM EXTREME PFD & KNIFE/LIGHT/WHISTLE
• TYPHOON DRYSUIT AND THERMAL UNDERSUIT AND GLOVES

The team can place 11 swiftwater/flood trained volunteers into the water if needed to complete technical rescues, live bait, wade rescues and evacuations.

 

also the team has at its disposal 8 manual inflate life jackets for search on land.

BOATS:- the team has 3 boats.

our new purchase is the 4 meter inflatable rescue craft equipped with a 6 horsepower engine. this craft can take 7 persons with ease and will be utilised as our flood rescue boat.

our second boat is the 2.7 meter inflatable which can take 4 persons and is the primary sar craft due to its portability and is again equipped with a 6 horsepower engine.

our third craft is our fully inflatable raft which can take 5 persons and also our small 2.5 horse power engine

each craft can be paddled or utilised in rope access swiftwater incidents.
