STAR search and rescue train all of its volunteers to at least basic first aid level.
STAR have placed forward to IFRA a proposal for all the teams to utilise our CASCARE course as a national standard. in april 2010 the course was recognised and is now an IFRA approved course.
our team members are skilled at providing basic and intermediate casualty care including the use of defibrilators and medical gases.
the team undertakes regular casualty care and evacuation training in a wide variety of locations ranging from buildings,slopes,rivers and tow paths..
a selection of our casualty care equipment, on display is our basket, folding stretchers, spinal board vacuume mattress and kendrick extrication devices.
also on display are our 2 intermediate casualty care bags (orange) and our advanced care bag (blue) our oxygen resucitation equipment is also visible in the foreground.
as well as carrrying basic first aid bandages and dressings the bags also have diagnostic equipment such as pulse oximiters, thermometers and digital blood pressure monitors.
our advanced bag is for our team advanced medics who are all serving NHS A/E nurses, paramedics and doctors.
it carries equipment for advanced airway management, intravenous infusion and also diagnostic equipment.
the team always responds with a casualtycare back pack, mibbs stretcher and spinal imobilisation kit, to any incident or training session.
